GoHighLevel Review 2026: A Practitioner's Honest Take

By Ciaran Wentz7 min read

GoHighLevel is a capable, good-value platform for agencies and for local service businesses that sell by text, phone and booked appointments. Its strengths are breadth, flat pricing and white labelling. Its weaknesses are a busy interface, slow texting approval, small setup traps and a real learning curve. It suits teams with someone to own it.

A note on our angle. Voreli AI sets up and manages HighLevel for clients through our GoHighLevel agency services, so we have a stake in people using it. We also run our own HighLevel agency account, opened in September 2026, and the first-hand notes below come from setting that account up ourselves. Product claims are checked against HighLevel's own site and help center as of September 17, 2026. There is no star rating here, because a score hides the question that matters: whether it fits your business.

If you are new to the platform, start with what GoHighLevel is.

What does GoHighLevel do well?

It puts the whole front office in one account

From one agency login we built sales and delivery pipelines, set up a branded login domain and a branded domain for system links such as forms and calendars, verified a dedicated email sending domain, connected Stripe and submitted our texting registration.

Pricing does not grow with your team

HighLevel's pricing page lists unlimited users and unlimited contacts on every plan, from $97 a month. Texts, calls, email and some AI features are billed by usage on top. For a business with several staff and a large list, that model is easier to live with than per-seat pricing. Our GoHighLevel pricing guide has the full numbers.

White labelling works

Our branded login domain went live over HTTPS after we added a single DNS record. The one hiccup was timing: HighLevel's first verification check failed even though public DNS already showed the record, and a retry about 30 seconds later passed. That happened on both domains we connected.

It checks your texting compliance before you pay

Before you submit an A2P campaign, a Review Application step crawls your opt-in page, privacy policy and terms, and scores each against named criteria. On our first run the opt-in page scored 6 of 8, privacy 6 of 7, and terms only 2 of 7. After fixing the pages, the scores were 7 of 8, 7 of 7 and 7 of 7. That matters because HighLevel's A2P article says registration fees apply at submission, approved or not.

Agency tooling is built in

Snapshots let an agency package "funnels, forms, workflows, calendars, settings, and more" and load them into a new client account, per HighLevel's snapshot guide. Rebilling and, on Agency Pro, SaaS mode are part of the plans rather than bolt-ons.

Where does GoHighLevel fall short?

Texting takes weeks, not minutes

HighLevel's A2P article puts registration for local numbers at 4 to 6 weeks. We submitted our brand on September 5, and at the time of writing it was still in progress. The campaign step does not start until the brand clears, and a number without a registered campaign cannot send SMS to US phones.

The forms add friction of their own:

•

Tax ID field: the hint shows the EIN with a dash, but the validator rejects the dash and wants nine bare digits.

•

Opt-in description: choosing an opt-in method silently replaced our detailed description with a short generic sentence. We had to restore it before submitting, and it is the field a human vetter reads.

•

The checker: it flagged our required consent checkbox as a failure, because carriers want the box to be optional. One criterion never cleared despite two rounds of fixes, and re-running the scan straight after a change returned the old cached score.

•

Submission: there are several confirmation steps, and the last one asks you to accept that you may be charged for a rejected submission.

•

Dropdowns: in these forms, the first click after scrolling often left the field empty. We had to click again and check it took.

Small setup traps add up

•

A sub-account we did not ask for: signup quietly created a sub-account from the address picked in the autocomplete, and that address came out mangled. We had created our own clean one, so we ended up with two of the same name and only noticed when the phone settings listed two rows.

•

URL fields: the website and policy URL fields rejected addresses starting with https and only accepted the bare domain.

•

A misleading modal: after we created a pipeline, HighLevel opened a blank edit window with its four default stages. It looked like our new pipeline. Saving it would have overwritten our stages.

•

Blank pages: links straight to a sub-account's settings loaded blank until we had switched into that sub-account first.

•

Logo preview: the branding screen previews your logo on white, but the app sidebar is dark, so a dark logo that looks fine in the preview disappears in use.

•

Plan visibility: the menu showed modules that led us to assume we were on a higher plan than we were. The billing page was the only reliable answer.

Phone and email providers are fixed

Inside HighLevel, phone service is LeadConnector's own, which HighLevel's pricing guide says is priced the same as Twilio, or your own Twilio account. We found no option for another carrier. For email, we could not plug in the sending provider we already use elsewhere, so HighLevel's email service went on its own subdomain to keep the two setups apart. One DNS record it needed appeared only on the verification screen, not in the list of records to add.

Deleting things is deliberately hard

Deleting our duplicate sub-account took three checkboxes and then a separate confirmation where you type DELETE. Our first attempt looked like it worked and did nothing, because we had not reached the second step. HighLevel's deletion guide describes a 24-hour undo window and warns that numbers and A2P campaigns are deleted with the account. That caution is reasonable, but the first step should not look final.

Some data is only in the interface

The Private Integration tokens we use cover contacts, opportunities, locations and tags. Email statistics, phone numbers and A2P status we could only read in the app, and several settings panels load inside embedded frames that browser automation handles poorly.

Who should use GoHighLevel?

•

Agencies: managing several client businesses with shared templates and your own branding.

•

Local service businesses: companies that win work by text, phone and booked appointments.

•

Teams with big lists: many users or many contacts, where per-seat pricing would climb.

•

Businesses with an owner for it: someone who will learn it and keep it tidy.

Who should not?

•

Content-led marketers: if you sell through content and email and live in reports, look at our HighLevel vs HubSpot comparison.

•

Anyone who needs to text this week: local number registration takes weeks.

•

Teams with no one to run it: the breadth that makes it useful also makes it easy to leave half built.

•

Businesses tied to a specific phone or email provider: check that HighLevel supports it before you commit.

What is our verdict?

HighLevel is worth it for agencies and for text and phone-led local businesses that will give it an owner. The feature set is broad, the pricing is fair for teams, and the compliance checker is more useful than we expected. The costs are time and patience: texting approval, fiddly forms and a busy interface. Budget for setup, start the texting registration first, and test every workflow before it goes live.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoHighLevel legit?

Yes. It is a paid software product with public pricing, a public help center and a 14-day free trial.

Is GoHighLevel worth $97 a month?

For a single business that will use the CRM, messaging and booking together, usually yes, before usage charges. If you only need one of those, a dedicated tool may cost less.

Is GoHighLevel hard to learn?

It takes time. The basics are quick, but pipelines, workflows, email domains and texting registration each have their own setup.

Can I try it before paying?

Yes. HighLevel offers a 14-day free trial on any plan. Texting and calling fees can still apply during the trial.
