What Is GoHighLevel? What It Does, Who It Is For and What It Costs

By Ciaran Wentz6 min read

GoHighLevel, sold under the name HighLevel, is an all-in-one sales and marketing platform built for agencies and local service businesses. One account holds a CRM, pipelines, websites and funnels, email and SMS, calendars, review requests, workflow automation and AI tools. Plans cost $97, $297 or $497 a month, plus usage charges.

That is the short answer. The rest of this guide covers what the pieces do, how the account structure works, who it suits and where it gets hard. Product details come from HighLevel's own site and help center, checked on September 17, 2026.

What does GoHighLevel actually do?

HighLevel's homepage calls it "the AI-powered business operating system" and describes "all the tools you need to capture, nurture and close new leads" (gohighlevel.com). The main parts are:

•

CRM and pipelines: contact records, tags, smart lists for segmentation, and sales pipelines with stages you define.

•

Websites and funnels: a builder for websites, landing pages, funnels, forms, surveys and quizzes.

•

Email and SMS: two-way texting, email and SMS broadcasts, and a shared inbox that also takes social DMs.

•

Phone: call tracking, missed call text back and ringless voicemail.

•

Calendars: booking calendars with appointment reminders.

•

Reputation: automated review requests and review management.

•

Workflows: automations that start from a form fill, a booking, a tag or a pipeline change, then send messages, create tasks or update records.

•

Payments: invoicing and payment integrations.

•

AI: Conversation AI for chat and text, and Voice AI for calls.

•

Mobile app: for replying to conversations and checking contacts away from a desk.

You will also see the name LeadConnector. HighLevel uses it for its phone and email services and for one of its help center domains, so treat it as the same company.

What are white label and SaaS mode?

These are the agency features. White labelling lets an agency show its own logo and serve the app from its own domain, so "your customers will be using your domain when logging in and using the app," according to HighLevel's whitelabel domain guide. The pricing page says the desktop web app can be white labelled, and sells a white label mobile app as a separate add-on.

SaaS mode, on the Agency Pro plan, "transforms HighLevel into your own sellable software product," per the same pricing page. An agency can sell subscriptions from its own website, have client accounts created automatically, and rebill phone and email usage with a markup.

Who is GoHighLevel built for?

Two groups:

•

Agencies: the platform is designed around running many client businesses from one login, with templates, rebilling and white labelling.

•

Local service businesses: contractors, clinics, salons, home services and similar businesses that win work by phone, text and booked appointments. HighLevel's pricing page describes Starter as "perfect for smaller businesses and solo marketers."

It is a weaker fit for a business that sells mainly through content and long email programs, or a sales team that wants deep reporting. Our HighLevel vs HubSpot comparison covers that trade in detail.

How do accounts and sub-accounts work?

HighLevel has two levels. The agency account sits on top and holds the plan, billing, branding and the list of client workspaces. Each workspace is a sub-account, which HighLevel also calls a location. Contacts, pipelines, calendars, workflows, websites and phone numbers live inside a sub-account, and HighLevel's deletion guide notes that deleting one also deletes its numbers and A2P campaigns.

An agency can mark one sub-account as its own internal business, which HighLevel calls an agency sub-account. Agencies speed up client setup with snapshots. A snapshot packages "funnels, forms, workflows, calendars, settings, and more," and loading one gives a new sub-account that starting build, per HighLevel's snapshot guide.

If you are one business, you normally need one sub-account. Starter includes three. Unlimited and Agency Pro include unlimited sub-accounts.

What does GoHighLevel replace?

For a small business, one HighLevel account can stand in for several separate tools:

•

A CRM: contact records and pipelines.

•

A website or funnel builder: landing pages and simple sites.

•

An email marketing tool: newsletters and follow-up sequences.

•

A texting and calling tool: two-way SMS and call tracking.

•

A scheduling tool: booking links and reminders.

•

A review request tool: asking customers for reviews after a job.

•

Simple automation glue: many of the "when this happens, do that" steps people otherwise build in a connector tool.

You do not have to move everything. Each module is capable, but not every one matches a dedicated tool feature for feature. You can keep an existing website, for example, and use HighLevel only for forms, follow-up and booking.

What are the limits and the learning curve?

Breadth is the main difficulty. There are many menus, many settings and often several ways to do the same job. HighLevel also ships changes often, so screens move.

The parts that take longer than people expect:

•

Texting setup: sending SMS from a US local number requires A2P 10DLC registration. HighLevel's registration article puts the process at 4 to 6 weeks for local numbers, and fees apply at submission whether or not you are approved. Our A2P 10DLC registration guide covers how to pass the first time.

•

Email setup: a dedicated sending domain needs DNS records and a warmup period before larger sends.

•

Consent: an approved texting registration does not give you permission to text anyone. Each contact still needs to have opted in, and an imported list usually carries no consent records.

•

Workflows: automations are powerful and easy to get wrong. Test them with real examples before switching them on.

How much is GoHighLevel?

From HighLevel's pricing page:

•

Starter: $97 a month, or $970 a year, with three sub-accounts.

•

Unlimited: $297 a month, or $2,970 a year, with unlimited sub-accounts.

•

Agency Pro: $497 a month, or $4,970 a year, adding SaaS mode.

•

Enterprise: no published price.

Every plan lists unlimited users and unlimited contacts. Texts, calls, email and some AI features are billed on top from a prepaid wallet, and there is a 14-day free trial. Our GoHighLevel pricing breakdown covers the usage rates, A2P fees and a worked monthly estimate.

Should you set it up yourself?

Yes, if someone on your team has time to learn the platform and will own it after launch. If nobody will, plan for help, because an account with nobody responsible for it does not follow up with anyone.
